Beth & Jamie at Scrivelsby Walled Garden

Beth was walking a friend’s dog in Waltham when she first met Jamie. He remembered her wanting very little to do with him. Happily, that changed: they had found each other at sixteen, and by their wedding at Scrivelsby Walled Garden they had years of shared life for the speeches to draw on.

A family with plenty to say

Jamie spoke about Beth’s patience, kindness and consideration, and how lucky he felt to have met her so young. The family speeches were just as affectionate, though much less likely to let him get away without a joke.

Their dog Rupert had a place in the celebrations too. Beth’s dad spoke about how much walking her down the aisle had meant to him. In a room already laughing at the stories, it was a lovely, moving thing to hear.

Summer at Scrivelsby Walled Garden

Sunflowers, old garden walls and the tipi reception gave the day its setting. Friends gathered around the tables, the band brought the evening to life, and there was time with Beth and Jamie among the planting and long grass.

This remains one of our favourite earlier films. We love the portraits, but just as much the way the speeches sound like a family talking to one another: familiar stories, a little teasing and no doubt about how much the couple are loved.
