Sam and Megan’s wedding at Scrivelsby Walled Garden on 23 July 2026 had the easy atmosphere they wanted from the start: warm, outdoors, relaxed and full of people enjoying themselves. They met in 2013 and built a family through years of RAF deployments and long stretches apart. Now their daughter was beside them for a day that moved from a garden ceremony to speeches under the tipi and a full evening of dancing.
A love that kept growing through every phase
Sam and Megan met in 2013. Sam’s RAF deployments took him away repeatedly, even after their daughter Amelia arrived. In his speech, he counted the time apart and the journeys home. Megan spoke about the airport goodbyes and the effort they both made to ensure Amelia felt she had them both, even when Sam was hundreds of miles away.
Megan had wanted a wedding film for years. Her own family videos had become treasured records of earlier lives and gatherings, and she wanted something that would let them return to this day properly—not just to the ceremony, but to the voices, laughter and people around it.
The place they knew was right
Scrivelsby Walled Garden suited them immediately. They wanted to be outside, but also wanted the venue to feel warm and unforced. The old walls, gardens and canopy created shelter without closing the day in, giving guests room to drift between conversation, games and the celebration under way.
The ceremony took place beneath the canopy on the sheltered decking. The tipi carried the speeches and later celebration, while guests spent time in the gardens between those moments. The film moves between these spaces rather than treating the wedding as a day spent entirely outside.
A Cornwall proposal, carried into family life
Sam proposed in 2018 at one of their favourite places: the walk from Carbis Bay to St Ives in Cornwall. They still return to the same spot, now taking their daughter and adding another photograph to the collection with the woods behind them and the sea beyond.
That sense of memory accumulating around places and people ran through the wedding. The day was new, but it was also connected to everything that had come before it—the years together, the distance endured and the family life they were now celebrating in front of everyone.
Nails, lawn games and a bride’s speech
Sam brought a game back from his deployments: hammering nails into a tree stump. It sat naturally among the lawn games, ice cream, casino tables and the easy competition that helped guests settle into the afternoon.
Megan’s speech is at the heart of the film. She spoke about the years apart, Sam as a father and their daughter making them a family long before the ceremony. Her father spoke about her kindness and determination; Sam recalled the flights home. The speeches had humour too, and the day gave way to dancing under the tipi and a beautiful stretch of evening light.
Filming Sam and Megan at Scrivelsby Walled Garden
Sam and Megan were easy to film because they were so clearly at ease with one another. They are deeply besotted, but the feeling never became performative; it showed up in the way they looked at each other, laughed with their guests and kept returning to the same shared centre of gravity.
The finished film is shaped by that combination: a beautiful summer setting, gorgeous light and sun flares, but also a bride speaking honestly, friends playing games, family filling the room and two people who have spent thirteen years choosing one another. Scrivelsby Walled Garden gave them the space. They gave the day its atmosphere.
