Lydia and Charlie married at St Agatha’s Church in Gilling West on 12 August 2025, then brought everyone to Yorkshire Wedding Barn for a celebration that kept gathering pace. There was singing, dancing, a live band and guests up on chairs and tables. Their film has the joy and noise of the day in it.
A church ceremony in Gilling West
The day began with Lydia getting ready in the Lake Barn bridal room and Charlie at the Boathouse. St Agatha’s is a small village church with the sort of closeness that suited their ceremony: guests filling the pews, a reading from Bella and the couple together at the front.
Afterwards, everyone came out through the church gates for confetti before making the short trip to the reception. That change of setting gives the film a clear beginning: the quiet of the church, then the open space and growing energy of the barn.
Why the Yorkshire Wedding Barn
Lydia and Charlie had narrowed the choice of venue down, but the Yorkshire Wedding Barn won them over when they visited. Its Lake Barn, grounds and wide views across the North Yorkshire countryside gave guests somewhere to spread out between the ceremony and evening party.
The location kept the church and reception close together. They could have the church wedding they wanted in Gilling West and still give the afternoon and evening room to develop at the barn.
A reception that found its own volume
This was an energetic wedding. Live singing and a saxophonist helped carry the reception, and the band drew people onto the dance floor. Lydia and Charlie were singing too; before long, guests were dancing on chairs and tables.
That is the part of the day you cannot reduce to a few posed portraits. The film gets to stay with the movement, the voices and the people who were right in the middle of it.
A film that keeps the sound of the day
Lydia and Charlie had particularly looked forward to the preparations and speeches. Their plans included words from Lydia’s father Andy, Charlie and best man Haydn. We filmed those moments alongside the music and the reaction in the room.
The result moves from the intimacy of St Agatha’s to the big, happy disorder of the Yorkshire Wedding Barn reception. The landscape is beautiful, but the strongest images belong to the people who filled it.
